Katy Kat Eye Mascara Review

Like most women in their 30's I use the same mascara year in and year out. Since starting this blog I figured that it was time that I tried something new every once in a while. I decided to buy this Katy Kat Mascara because it was on sale and Katy Perry has some pretty amazing eyes. I loved Katy Perry during her teenage dream days. (P.S. not feelin' your short blond hair Katy, please come back to the dark side.) As soon as I opened it I realized that this was the goopiest shit ever. The one I got is not waterproof, which is what I prefer because waterproof mascara usually doesn't bond to your lashes too well. Perhaps the waterproof stuff isn't as goopy but this one was like watered down bread dough. All mascara is essentially just goop but this stuff was a little bit more than I was used to dealing with. When it's on the brush you have to scrape it on the side of the container at least a handful of times before it is thin enough to use. As most of you know scraping the brush on the edge of the opening of the container is usually something you want to do anyway but with this mascara I had to do it at least twice as many times as I had to with other brands.

After scraping off the excess goop I applied what was left on the brush to my lashes. The brush is in a spiral shape which seems to help coat all my lashes. The mascara it self was nothing spectacular but I absolutely loved the brush. The end result was a pretty clumpy and tarantula leg looking lash, but most mascaras have this same result, and some people like that. I personally am not fond of that look. It may have looked better if I had gone over my lashes with a lash comb afterward but there are plenty of other mascara's that do not require this extra step.

I would not recommend this product. There are plenty of other mascaras that are less goopy and less clumpy. It is usable but in no way do I think it is superior to any other mascara in this price range. That is why I would not recommend this product. You can get a similar result with a cheaper mascara but and a better result for the same cost with a different brand.

2 out of 5 stars

What to use instead

MAYBELLINE

Volum' Express The Falsies Mascara

This mascara is about the same cost as Katy Kat Eyes, I think it may even be a little cheaper. It's less clumpy and gives your lashes a really nice and full look.
