Silicone Beauty Blender

Every few year in the world of makeup a new product comes along that makes us all say "why didn't I think of that?" in this case I think we were all thinking that about the silicone beauty blender I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that... until I used it. Then I I realized, oh, that's why no one has used this to apply makeup before, because this sucks.

I have been wanting to try one of these out since I realized they were actually a thing. I am TERRIBLE at cleaning my brushes and beauty sponges. Because of this, I have a lot more breakouts and blemishes than I should. I take off my makeup and wash my face every night. Wash my face every morning in the shower before I put my makeup on but I still deal with blemishes pretty regularly. I wanted to try the silicone beauty blender because it looks super simple to clean and in theory, it should help prevent breakouts if there is less oil build up on my application tool.

The other day my youngest daughter was sick and my oldest needed some foundation. I stayed home with the little one and daddy took our oldest to buy makeup. When they came back my husband had bought me this Swisspers Silicone Blender. I got pretty choked up about the fact that he remembered that I mentioned I wanted this. When I said, "you remembered!" He said, "no, our daughter told me." So that's the story of how I ended up with this silicone blender.

Here is my experience with the silicone beauty blender over 7 days. My first assessment was it feels funny. It feels very different from holding a sponge. It seemed to take a little bit of extra effort to blend in all my makeup and when I was finished it was pretty caked on and not blended very well at all. The silicone beauty "blender" kinda sucked at blending and in comparison to the sponge it is a total fail. Although it is much easier to clean it's not a replacement for the sponge when i comes to flawlessly blending your makeup. Silicone is sometimes used to simulate human skin and with this silicone blender you're probably better off just using your fingers to blend your makeup.

After one week I had 2 pimples, about the same as with the sponge, so it really didn't help keep my skin clearer, and the more I used it the more annoyed I was with the extra time and work it took to blend my makeup with this silicone blender. A foam sponge is much easier to use than the silicone blender. The only way I really could blend it best was to use the silicone and a brush after words to blend it as well as possible.

Final Assesment: The silicone beauty blender is easier to clean than the sponge but not as good at blending. I would honestly just skip out on it. You can try it for yourself for about $5 but I would rather spend that money on stocking up on some sponges. It's like applying makeup to your face with a pencil eraser, it feels strange, and does not produce a very good result. I would only use it in a pinch and I would never buy one again.
