Demacol Review
Makeup can be a wonderful thing but it can also be a curse. I envy any woman who has skin that has not been ravaged by acne. My skin is riddled with scars, blackheads and big pores so I rely on makeup to give me a smooth flawless look. I'm in my mid 30's and I've tried a little bit of everything but it never hurts to try something new. I was running low on my regular concealer and instead of buying another bottle of my old tried and true, I decided to try something new.
Dermacol is a hyper allergenic, waterproof, SPF 30 concealer. If you are on Facebook you have probably seen ads for this makeup. In the ads, they are covering up tattoos to show how well the makeup can cover up any blemish. I'm going to have to call bull shit on that. I'm not saying it's not a good quality concealer, but it's didn't seem to measure up to the promises it made. If you have a serious acne problem and are looking for a concealer to cover up your scars; this is not the best I've seen. This concealer is no better than anything else you would buy at Ulta or Macy's. It's a very good concealer, but absolutely not the miracle eraser that it claims to be.
It comes in a very pretty package, it is sealed like real pallet oil or acrylic paint, you have to pop a hole in the top. Once you poke through the seal the concealer will come spewing out slowly like one of those snake firecrackers on the 4th of July. Because of this, some ended up on my hand. Instead of wasting it, I decided to put it to the test. I tried to cover the tattoo I have on my left breast. As you can see from the picture below, I hadn't even blended it in completely and my tattoo was still pretty visible. The next day I did my makeup using this concealer and I was not any more impressed the second time around. Although as I mentioned before it does its job as a regular concealer, and it is "waterproof", it produced the same results of any other concealer in the same price range. It was nothing super special. I think most of my disappointment stems from the promises it failed to deliver. I paid $20 for mine plus shipping and handling, the total came to $25. For that price, I would just stick with Dermablend or Urban Decay. Although I selected a color that is about 2 shades darker than my skin tone, I don't think that matching my skin tone would have helped cover my tattoo.
Honestly I think it is a very good concealer but it's not as great as it claims to be. Demablend has a commercial where they cover the most tattooed man in the world with their concealer and it looks like he has no tattoo's. I have been using Dermablend for years and I'm pretty confident that I would get the exact same results from Dermablend as I did from Dermacol when it comes to covering up a tattoo. The biggest down fall to this concealer was that I ordered it off the internet and was unable to sample it before purchasing it to match my skin tone. As far as I know it is not available in stores and for that, I would recomend Demablend over Demacol, because you can find Dermablend at most cosetic sounters. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
